Fun Fact:  They are called Alt-J because this is the keyboard shortcut for a triangle. Educating.

Lana Del Reveal

So it's here, the great big reveal. Lana does H&M and looks every bit as sultry and Bardot as we imagined.

Is anyone else seeing a little bit of Adele also?

(FYI: Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin)

Video of the campaign to follow xoxox

Today I'm Wearing....

This.
I found the ribbon in my craft box and added it to my digi print blouse in a mad rush this morning.
I love happy accidents.

The Exquisite Corpse Project

I'm not entirely sure about what is going on in this film from the trailer but the concept is so original that i'm really intrigued as to what it's going to be like. It's won a few indie awards yet IMDB is averaging a 3.7 out of 10 rating.
In a few words to describe : 5 friends, each write 15 minutes, only able to read the previous 5 pages of the script.

I'm not a bird who would adapt to having her wings clipped.

You've probably already seen the pictures, but this week sees the launch of Agyness Deyn's first collection with Dr Martens. She's already been the face of the first and forever campaign for 2 years and it's not the first time I have blogged about the genius combination of the two. But I don't think a celebrity collaboration has ever been so fitting as this one. When you think of Dr Martens, you do think of people like Deyn and so it only seems right that she eventually got round to designing a collection for them. Taking inspiration from grungy 90's idols like Courtney Love and Winona Ryder, Deyn's pieces are oversized, perfect for layering and can be found in lots of plaid and floral. Team these with the VELVET CREEPERS (my highlight of the collection) and you're onto a winner.

Wrist Candy - LAYER UP

So the lovely ladies over at DOTCOMGIFTSHOP mentioned me in their "Blogs we love post" on their shop blog and I came over all emotional. Such thoughtful words were said. In truth i had never actually been on the website before so i wasn't sure what kind of treasures they sold, but a quick browse made me realise that i have been missing a gem! There's all kinds of bunting, vintage inspired kitchen treats (scratch that, all kinds of chintzy homeware loveliness), cycling accessories, craft kits, and all kinds of other delights.
Some of my favourite things were these bright tutti frutti bracelets which are the perfect jingly arm candy to layer up.

My Favourite Jessie.

Jessie J? Who's she?? It's all about Jessie Ware.

Willa Holland makes me miss the OC.

As of late i have been reminiscing about The OC, so much so that i decided i would get all seasons out and watch them all over again. I loved loved loved the OC, like i'm sure every girl my age did so it was so nice to be reunited with those all too familiar characters. Broody Ryan, adorable Seth, babealicious Summer and drama queen Marissa, but these are all obvious character when you remember the OC. I truly forgot about Oliver the psychopath, Theresa the sweet chino girl, Luke the guy with the gay dad, DJ the hot yard guy, and finally KAITLIN Marissa's little sister. Remember when Kaitlin decided to all of a sudden grow up and get all young hottie in the making on us?
Well today she came to my attention again coincidentally when i saw her looking all foxxy lady in these photographs by Rony Alwin and felt compelled to share them. Great pictures, and super hot subject. Girl crushinnnn'.

Yummy yummy in my tummy

Rainbow Cake in Jar
  • 1 box white cake mix made according to package instructions
  • Neon food coloring in pink, yellow, green, turquoise, and purple
  • 3 one-pint canning jars
  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • Rainbow sprinkles
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Thoroughly wash and dry the inside of each canning jar. Spray the inside of each jar thoroughly with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
Scoop about 1/2 cups of cake batter into five small bowls. It doesn’t have to be perfect, don’t panic if you get a little more of less of one color than another.  Tint each bowl of cake batter with the food coloring until very vibrant.
Spoon about 3 tablespoons of the purple batter into the bottom of each jar.  Spoon equal amounts of turquoise batter, then green, yellow, and pink.  Place the jars in a shallow baking dish, add about 1/4″ in water in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Remove jars and allow to cool completely before scooping a small portion from the top of your cake and adding a hefty dollop of vanilla buttercream to the top. Sprinkle & serve, or cover with a lid and store in the fridge or pop into the mail & surprise someone you love!

Petra Collins does polaroids

"Petra Collins, the nineteen-year-old Toronto-based photographer, takes beautiful snapshots of girlhood. Her work has appeared in magazines like OysterGarageVice, and, of course, Rookie Mag. Her photos of teenage girls, whether they're of a group of witches or a couple of riot grrrl skateboarders, have helped define Rookie's aesthetic month after month. She also runs The Ardorous, an all-female art collective that features photographers, painters, and illustrators from around the world."

I cannot believe i've never seen any of her work before, but expect to see some upcoming posts with more of the lovely Petra Collin's Photo's, but for now here's some saccharine sweet polaroids she took for Urban Outfitters on the set of their latest look book.

So dreamy..

Books > Films

So many books being made into films these days and this year seems to have two of the best literary classics turned into motion pictures.

Jack Kerouac's On the Road gets the hollywood treatment and stars Sam Riley of Control fame, Kristen Stewart (As if you don't know what she's been in) and my favourite teeny blonde Kirsten Dunst. Out in September, it has already faced a lot of criticism and mixed reviews, however i think this can be expected with a story as classic as On the Road. I'm quite keen to see, especially as it has been directed by Walter Salles who also did the Motorcycle diaries which i happen to think is excellent.

Next up is Baz Luhrman's adaptation of The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald
This one really has had an obscene amount of money thrown at it. Starring Leo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Toby Mcguire and out on Christmas day, it's sure to be up for some costume awards at the Oscars. Not sure how i feel about it. I was very excited about it at first but i have an inkling that it might be a little too big, shiny and glamorous. Typical blockbuster when really it should be toned down and spectacular in a way that Coco avant Chanel was. I'm sure it will do well at the box office but may not go down too well with fans of the novel. We shall see..

Topshop Wishlist - Alabama vibes

Can't help but peruse Topshop whilst at work and there are SO many good things on offer at the moment! Drawn to anything with a boho, American country feel currently and those patterned desert boots are high on the wish list!
A little bit of the above and a little bit of the below. Yessir.
